Hudson was born in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of Oscar Award-winning actress Goldie Hawn and Bill Hudson, an actor comedian, actor, and musician.Her parents divorced when she was 18 months older and she, along with her older brother Oliver Hudson, an actor Oliver Hudson, were raised in Snowmass, Colorado, and Pacific Palisades, California by the mother of her and her long-time love interest actor Kurt Russell.Hudson's family heritage is Italian (from her paternal grandmother), Hungarian Jewish (from her maternal grandmother),and the rest of her family is a mix of English and some German.She was raised Jewish and, like her mother she is also a practicing Buddhism.Hudson has claimed that her biological father "doesn't know me as if I'm a hole in the wall" and that she considers Russell as her father.Hudson has described her mother as "the woman that I've gained the most knowledge from, and whom I look up to and who has led her life in a manner that I can emulate".
